Thankfully, there were no casualties reported, but 14 firefighters sustained injuries, with two in critical condition.


The cause of the fire, which originated in an asphalt tank, remains under investigation. The fire then spread to a second refinery located southwest of Arbil, the region's capital.


This incident highlights the inherent dangers faced by firefighters and the importance of robust safety measures within oil refineries.
