On June 13th, 2024, a fire erupted at an oil refinery in Iraqi Kurdistan. The blaze raged for nearly 20 hours before firefighters finally contained it.
Thankfully, there were no casualties reported, but 14 firefighters sustained injuries, with two in critical condition.
The cause of the fire, which originated in an asphalt tank, remains under investigation. The fire then spread to a second refinery located southwest of Arbil, the region's capital.
